Graduation & Vacation

Standard

Sorry for the delay in posting this blog! We’ve been busy, busy!!

Saturday morning we headed out to Atlanta. We made great time & Sydney was a wonderful traveler! We were in Atlanta by 5 pm & met up with Ryan’s family for dinner. It was so nice to have both families together! Once we got back from dinner, I fulfilled a promise to Sydney…swim in the pool. She conned anyone she could to get into that pool over the weekend!

I was so shocked by her while she was in the pool! I got her to jump in from the side of the pool. I caught her, of course, since she can’t swim. My little one is so timid of most things. I was completely caught off guard with her this time. She was fearless!

Sunday morning, we got up and had breakfast at the hotel. We were fairly lazy that morning. Ryan headed off to Gwinnett Arena before we needed to go. Once we got there, we waited in line for a few minutes before getting inside. We got great seats! The graduation was really entertaining. From rednecks with potty mouths sitting behind us, others changing a toddler’s diapers in front of us, hoops and hollers galore when the graduates walked across the stage, to the amazing speaker, it was a wonderful experience. The highlight…my husband GRADUATED!!! He is officially a college graduate!

I can’t tell you how proud I am of Ryan because there are no words to express my pride. He did the impossible and did it brilliantly. It is a struggle for people to go to school full-time while working full-time. Not only did Ryan do that, he did his time with the Navy and was an amazing husband and father.  Plus, he graduated with a pretty impressive GPA! He IS a Phoenix! (Have you seen the University of Phoenix commercials?) He is a hero. He’s MY hero!

After graduation, we headed over to Bahama Breeze for dinner. It was very yummy!! However, we did work up an appetite while waiting almost 2 hours to be seated! Usually, when waiting that long to eat, the food doesn’t live up to expectations. Bahama Breeze did! We also discovered a one in Louisville today! ;o)

Monday morning, our parents and Grandma all headed back to Paducah early. They were actually home before we left Atlanta! We decided to take it easy & be lazy that morning. After checking out of our hotel, we went to Krystal to eat lunch. (My first job was at Krystal/Baskin Robbins in Paducah.) It still smelled and tasted the same…should hold me over for another 13 years! Once our bellies were full, we headed to IKEA!!! I LOOOOVE IKEA! Our bedroom is completely furnished by IKEA. We frequented the one in Dallas fairly often & were having withdrawls. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get through it! We scored a few finds & headed out of town. Unfortunately, we waited until rush hour to head out of town! Oops! Traffic moved fairly well & we were on our way. By 10:30 pm, we were home.

Tuesday morning, we got up & decided to head to Atlantis Water Park in Clarksville, IN (just across the river from Louisville). It is a small water park, but perfect for our little family. We had so much fun & stayed most of the day. We’re all a little browner today than we were yesterday. ;o)

Today, we headed to Louisville. We ran a few errands that needed to be done & then went to the mall. After having our fill of the mall, we headed home, took naps, rearranged furniture, ate dinner, and went to the grocery. Now, at 11:07 pm, we’re heading to bed.

It has been GREAT having Ryan home this week! I wish he got more vacation than 2 weeks! I could get use to this!
