Happy New Year!…Well, tomorrow

Standard

This year has been a great year! So many changes occurred. Most of the changes were with Sydney. When I think about the little tot she was last January it makes me sad at how fast she’s changing. What will I be saying in January 2010? Who knows! Hopefully at some point, I’ll get to say, “SHE’S POTTY TRAINED!!” 🙂

Here are some of our milestones & fun times from this year:

-Sydney was barely walking in Jan. In the spring, she was still very unsteady in the grass out back. Now, she can walk, run, dance, jump, and climb about anywhere she wants to go.

-We moved…again. Thankfully, it was into a house. This house has been such a huge blessing to us. Besides saving money from our last apartment, it has given us a sense of freedom. Sam (our dog) can be put outside to do his thing by opening the back door since we have a fenced-in back yard. We no longer have to take him out in the rain! Ryan, Sydney, and I have groomed the front and back yard, played outside much more than we have been able to in years past, and bought a new grill that we almost wore out we use it so much! I will be sad to leave this place when we do. Our little girl turned from a baby into a little girl in this house.

-We throughly enjoyed a visit from our Cali folk (Jon & Corena aka. Uncle Awesome & Aunt Neena). It was so refreshing to be able to spend some time with Ryan’s whole family.

-In June, I was able to spend a few days in Nashville with my dear TX friends. I miss each of them so, so much. The friendship that we shared while in TX (and still share, but in a different way) was one of the most honest things I have ever experienced. It was so nice to be with them in Nashville. It was like we had never been apart! I hope we don’t go that long before we see each other again!

-My mom and I went to a Beth Moore conference in Atlanta, also in June. We went with a group from Reidland. I am so glad that I went. Rejuvenating is definitely the word to describe that trip. Plus, I gained an old/new friendship out of it!

-In July, my little family and my parents took a trip to Avon, CO. It was such a great trip!! I will forever be glad that we went. It was a relaxing time of sightseeing & enjoying each other’s company. Plus, CO is a BEAUTIFUL place. I know I’ve said it before, but I really think Ryan and I could have stayed. Unfortunately, Paducah is too far away.

-In August, I gained a sister. Nathan and Kacey seem so happy! I am so glad she has joined our family. Hopefully we haven’t scared her too much & she’s still happy she joined ours!

-September was a busy month. Ryan was in New York for 2 weeks. He had a birthday. AND we celebrated our 7th anniversary in St. Louis with a concert. It’s hard to believe it’s already been 7 years!! It has been a good 7 years, though!

-October brought the end of the pacifier! Whoohoo!!! It was soooooooo much easier than I thought it was going to be! I either timed it right or was a sissy! Not sure which, just happy Sydney didn’t put up much of a fight.

-We also celebrated Sydney’s 2nd birthday in October with family and great friends. I set out for her birthday party day to be an extra fun day. It definitely was! We went with her little friend, Ashton, and my old/new friend, Alicia, and our families to YaYa’s Island. We let the girls have naps after playing & then had the party. It was a really good day! She may not remember it, but I always will!

-In November, Ryan went to Maine for 2 weeks. He had a good time up there, but was glad to come home at the end of the trip. We were definitely glad to have him home!!

-Also in November, we were happy to hear that our new niece Zoë had made her safe arrival. Later in the month, we were able to officially welcome her to our family. She is such a beautiful baby. We are blessed to call her niece!

-This month was a busy month (as are most). We made a trip to Paducah & had two weekends of Christmas. It has been a good month!!

-Plus, this whole year, we made many trips to Paducah. We went in for various reasons: to see family, to go to functions we were invited to, and to be at Reidland. After being away, we really begin to crave being there. It will always be family to both of us. There are so many people there that are like mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandpas, grandmas, etc. The great thing about it, is that I’m not the only one that feels that way. Ryan really views Reidland as home, too. That makes me really happy!

This year has been full of so many positives! We have had our battles to get through, but I feel that we have always tried to look to the positive even in the tough times.

I have to say that 2009 is a year that I am a little anxious about. There is the possibility of many changes. Although we never know what the next year will look like, I have NO idea what this next year will hold. Ryan will finish school in February in hopes to find a new job. That will hopefully lead to a move. We really like Elizabethtown. However, we’re tired of the 2 1/2 hour drive to Paducah. We’ll have to wait and see what doors open & how life unfolds. No matter what life throws at us, good and bad, we will handle it.

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15.

Happy 2009 Blogger friends!!
